Zelda TOTK Priority Ranks

Ever since The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's launch on May 12, 2023, I have completed the game (to the point of reaching the game credits, not to 100% in terms of Koroks, etc) at least once per year, and each year get better and better at it. This year (2026) I decided to outline my rank of priorities to accomplish, and the specific videos/links I used in order to complete it, to reduce searches for the following years.

The interactive map can be found here.

Priority 0: Pre-Jump

Before the jump off the Temple of Time to the main ground level, these are my priorities to complete.

  • 1. Make way to the Temple of Time.
    • Find out which sentinels in particular have the key items: Sheika Slate, Battery. Battery is acquired after 2nd visit to Temple.
    • If you find any Stamella Shrooms, do not eat them or cook them. We're saving those for after we get the glider, to dupe them en masse.
  • 2. Complete the first shrine.
    • Gain the Ultrahand ability.
  • 3. Complete the second shrine.
    • Gain the Fuse ability.
    • Before the third shrine, after using longs glued together at the ends to get up the slippery cliff, use the same ladder to get up on the hollow trunk ledge near the third shrine (normally which you would ascend thru), and open the chest in the hollow tree stump, which has snow pants, then do the third shrine.
  • 4. Complete the third shrine.
    • Gain the Ascend ability.
  • 5. Fly to the Temple of Time.
    • Go straight to the doors, then back to the statue, then back to the doors. Jump off the edge.
  • 6. Go straight to the central tower and get the glider.

Priority 1: Map Towers

After getting the glider from the main tower, focus on unlocking each of the map towers. They are mostly accomplishable by combining jumping from previously unlocked towers and gliding over, using Stamella mushroom potions, without having to unlock any Stam wheel expansions.

  • 1. We should already have stamella shrooms from the Great Sky Island; dupe them with a goal of at least 10 full-wheel potions per tower flight attempt.
  • 2. While in the air, zoom in mid-glide or land on a sky island, to mark the towers nearby. In the future, list which towers we unlock, in which order.
  • 3. Find a diamond and dupe it and sell 50 of them at the main tower. There is a guaranteed diamond at the floating main castle's base. Just past the gate you have to walk around, climb up the direct facing surface and go into the window. At the base of that room is a grate to remove, and a chest containing a diamond. Might be able to float down into it from the main tower, also.

Priority 2: Stables/Beedles

  • 1. Use this map from this guide to find the locations of all of the Stables around Hyrule, and mark them the “person” icon, and then glide to each of them to register with the stables. Use up free tickets right away so you won't have to always get prompted.

Priority 3a: Regional Beast Defeats

  • 1. Tulin, for flying booster. No need to bother with Sage wills; they only affect damage, not cooldown.
  • 2. Ryujin, for arrow zap.
  • 3. Goro guy, for rock breaker.
  • 4. Dr Teeth, for useless water shield.

Unlocking the 5th beast requires the middle-fight with Ganon's gloombas.

Prep for the middle-fight

  • 1. Gloom-proof armors, via locating poe statues underground, 200p/each
  • 2. 1 full row of hearts
  • 3. Upgrade armors via fat fairies.
  • 3. Buncha gloom-restore meals (1milk + 4sundelion)

After Middle Fight

  • 1. Talk to Pura & Grunt below ring ruin.
  • 2. Photograph all the sky-star tablets (go around map and tag each tablet with meal, untag meal & star it after snap)
  • 3. Show dude all the pics. Last pic is in the ring ruin.
  • 4. Meet researchers at map-tower E of Lake Hylia.
  • 5. Find all of the zappy armor.
  • 6. Bicycle skip to the back end mouth-shaped entry of big island, to unlock elevator down to 5th sage. The first shrine is safe to skip.

Tips for 5th sage boss

  • 1. fuses don't matter.
  • 2. walk up close, and block when it slaps.
  • 3. during recoil, move so its back will be to closest fence.
  • 4. slap 3-4 times, so it hits fence. repeat.
  • 5. for 2nd half, just walk below it. it won't shoot straight down.
  • 6. it will dive after 2-3 rounds of flying shots, then repeat slap concept. done

Priority 3b: Glyphs Unlocks

  • 1. Visit Kakariko Village if we haven't already when registering the stables, to speak with the pair on the ground looking up at the Rings ruins, and speak with the village leader, to unlock the quest for the glyph-memories.
  • 2. List of which glyphs to do in which order, and which towers to glide from to reach them. Here is an image map of where they are located and which area of the glyph the puddle is found.

Priority 4: Getting Max Battery

Next, let's locate all of the mines underground, for purposes of converting zonite to increase battery size.

  • 1. Find 1 large Zonaite brick, and duplicate it until you have 675. From the Gerudo map tower, fly NNW to the hole atop the mountain, fall down but glide from the under's ceiling to the west to the light root, light it, and then drift west down to a mine. There are lots of zonaite mine grows there, to get a possible Large.
  • 2. Make a fire at a forge, and wait until morning, Save game, and then Load that save, and the forge should be restocked.
  • 3. Spend all 675 Large, for a total of 4500 crystalized charges, to trade in for a full battery.
  • Optionally, review this YT video about which holes to fall down into, and which direction to travel, to locate all of the underground mines with a forge.

Priority 5: Underground Lighting

  • 1. Build the bicycle if not already.
  • 2. Fly around to light spots; more tedious than guide-requiring.

Priority 6: Sky-side Star Pictures

  • 1. Take pictures of all the star-shaped plates with translation messages.
  • 2. Start of this quest will be a fallen one in the main tower's water; scientist is there.
